It’s time to change my site, but I can’t decide which photo to use. And, it’s 2 against 1 — both Calista Fox and Leigh Michaels like one photo and I like another. So, I need your help deciding. (NOTE: The new photo will blend into the black background – like now – but the blue color scheme will change.)

Cast your vote, then leave a comment (maybe telling why you prefer one over the other?) on my blog, and you’ll be entered in a drawing for a red iPod Shuffle!

  1. bunny says:

I choose the current one because the background of the picture is pitch black. Very nice. If the other photos could also have a black background, then I’d choose the first pic in the red dress as it looks like you’re having fun :)

  2. Karen S says:

I like the ‘Smiling in a Red Dress’ the best. It’s fun, flirty and shows your beautiful smile!

  3. RachelleChase says:

BUNNY: Oops! I meant to state that the background will be changed to black in the new photos, like it is now on the site. The color scheme will also change from blue. Thanks for pointing that out. And thanks for giving an alternate vote. :-)

KAREN S.: Thanks for stopping by to vote – and for the compliment!

  4. sena says:

I voted for the Dancing one because it looks candid and FUN! Pure joy!

  5. RachelleChase says:

SENA: Reading these comments is making it very hard not to share my opinion. Thanks for taking the time to vote and share!

  6. Phyllis W. says:

I picked the current photo. You look like a model.

  7. RachelleChase says:

PHYLLIS W. So says the woman who looks like a model herself. :-) I just checked out your blog – love your photo, plus those great beauty product tips. Will have to check back for more! Thanks for stopping by and voting, Phyllis.

  8. anna says:

the current one. and keep the blue. this is the most interesting picture. the other two are fun and flirty, but they don’t beg intrigue. besides, you can see your eyes best in this one, and your eyes are brilliant.

ps – i met you at the mediabistro event on tuesday. thanks for chatting with me. i look forward to finding a copy of your book, sin club. i love the trailer.

  9. Rachelle says:

ANNA: That’s not exactly the vote I was looking for. You’re making this very hard for me. (LOL) But, thanks so much for stopping by! I enjoyed chatting with you at Tuesday’s event, too – hope to see you at another. And I’m honored that you’re going to give SIN CLUB a try. Thanks!!

  10. Chicki Brown says:

IMO, the first one with the hint of thigh showing is the best. It’s sexy without being over the top. Also, the red dress complements your coloring so well.

  11. Rachelle says:

CHICKI: Thanks so much for the vote – and the compliment. Love your Meez, btw. :-)

  12. Aphrodisia Authors :: Blog » Blog Archive » Win an iPod … or a Book Deal? says:

[...] Well, I’m kicking off the Holiday Season with a couple of contests. First off, visit my blog and help me choose which photo to use for the new site — and you’ll be entered in a drawing to win a red hot iPod. [...]

  13. Brandy W says:

I love the dancing in red dress picture. I think its sexy and flirty.

  14. RachelleChase says:

BRANDY W. Thanks, Brandy. ‘Sexy’ and ‘flirty’ is always good. :-)

  15. Judy Cox says:

I picked smiling in the red dress. I really like all of them, but sometimes you need change. I love the red dress and you have a beautiful smile.

  16. Lori Ann says:

I chose ‘Dancing in a Red Dress’ because you look like you are having fun. You look fantastic in all the photos, but I think that photo really stands out.

  17. Kate Pearce says:

Although I love the two pics of you in the red dress (my favorite color) I like the current blue pic because you are looking right out at the viewer and I get more of a sense of who you are. But you look fab in all of the pictures!

  18. Cathy M says:

Love the red dress pics, especially the dancing one. It makes me want to smile too!

  19. Jennifer Y. says:

I voted for the first one. You look like you are having fun and it is very inviting…makes one want to dance with you.

  20. MJ says:

I’m a big fan of the smiling in a red dress, because we get a better shot of your face (and your smile).

  21. Jane says:

I picked the first one. I like your profile, the side look.

  22. Carol says:

I picked the first one because it’s flirty and fun. You look spectacular.

  23. PercyAAshe says:

The pix you have now is just awesome. Don’t mess with perfection. :)

  24. Karin says:

While all the pictures are really nice, I voted for the Smiling in the red dress because I liked that we got to see more of your face and your smile.

  25. Kathleen Bratcher says:

Dancing in a Red Dress is my #1 choice
You look very vivacious and it is eye catching!

  26. Little Lamb Lost says:

Dancing in a Red Dress is my favorite of the choices. It really gives off a completely unselfconcious fun and flirty feel.

  27. Danai says:

I love the current one as it is so striking and focused on just you. The others have too much background. If you took the red dancing one against a solid background – that would be perfect!

  28. Amy S. says:

I chose the first one cause it looks like you are having a great time and because it’s more of a fun pic.

  29. Jan says:

I think blue looks better on you. Do you have a blue dress as another choice?

  30. Caffey says:

Oh I loved both the first and the 3rd one too! Too can you put up more than one pic on different pages? They are both beautiful, I did end up going for the red one when I couldn’t pick both! But I love the joy in you in the first pic :)

  31. Janet H says:

They all look good, I just prefer the blue color on you.

  32. Jolene says:

Well i voted for the current one, it is such a sensual picture, but then i saw where the backgrounds would change. My first vote is for the current one, but the smiling in a red dress would be my second choice..its a great fun photo..

  33. Crystal B says:

I voted for Dancing in a red dress. You look happy and like you are having a lot of fun.

  34. RachelleChase says:

EVERYONE: What a pleasant surprise – to come home from work and discover all these delightful comments from you! THANK YOU! So far, it seems to be a close race between the photos — and some of you are having just as much trouble deciding as I am. That makes me feel better about my inability to make up my mind. :-D

In answer to Danai’s question, the background will be taken out of the red photos (you’re right, Jolene) and placed against black, just like the current photo. And, Jan, I don’t have another picture of me in blue. Well, I do have one, but it reminds me of one of those glamour shots they used to offer at the mall. Not quite the look I’m going for. :-)

Caffey, I thought about using two photos but … well, that makes me feel egotistical. I don’t want the site to scream, “Look at me!” In fact, it’s only recently that I’ve gotten comfortable with using a photo at all.

Since most readers seem to want to know who authors are, with the sheet photo, and now this one, I’ve been trying to use fun photos that give you a subtle glimpse, without making it all about me. Not sure I explained that well, but does some part of it make sense? :-)

Thank you all for stopping by and for the compliments!! Reading them has been such fun!

  35. Deidre says:

I chose smiling in a red dress because you do have a lovely smile. Have a safe and happy holiday season, Rachelle.

    Deidre

  36. RachelleChase says:

DEIRDRE: Thank you. And Happy Holidays to you, too!

  37. Jeannette Garand says:

i love the blue colour. I think it is a very mysterious, sexy colour with the dark background. Gives my imagination a little kick.

    Jeannette

  38. Joanna Allison says:

I like the Dancing in a Red Dress because you look so happy and glad to be alive.

  39. Debbie Ellison says:

Rachel they all look great but I picked the first one in your sexy, sizzling red dress. I think it makes you look tempting, risque, and sexy and that would make me check out your books.

They are all great! But red is best!!

  40. Debbie Ellison says:

Rachelle, I just came from Romantic Times Magazine online after searching your books and realised I shortened your name. I’m so sorry. Please forgive a newbie.

I am happy to see your have 2 books rated 4* there. Sex Lounge & Sin Club. Congrats!!

  41. Janet says:

I prefer ‘dancing in the red dress’ beacause you look lively, vivacious — brimming with personality and fun . The other red dress picture is more posed so feels a little static (and less natural) while your more serious expression in blue dress picture suggests you are a little uncomfortable in the pose. (And if you feel uncomfortable we will too.)
Because moods are infectious, ‘dancing in the red dress’ is exactly the type of picture that will entice your readers and hook them in — make make them want to read your books. It promises a fun, flirty, and very confident and entertaining personality

  42. Sue A. says:

I’m partial to the color red for one and you look really good in red. And I think in the first photo your body posture looks natural and your movements are vibrant. The second red dress photo lacks something and looks staged. And I’ve enjoyed the photo with the blue, but change is good and something new is in keeping with the coming new year.

  43. RachelleChase says:

EVERYONE:Thank you all for taking the time to choose and give me the reasons why for your preference.

It is so hard not to comment on your comments, but I’m trying real hard not to sway the results. So, that’s why I’m not commenting on every comment – it’s not because I’m ignoring you.

SUE A: I totally agree about the New Year being all about something new. Here’s one resolution that I might actually be able to keep. ;-)

JANET: That’s a very interesting comment you made about a fun photo making people want to read my books. I never thought of it that way, which makes me ask…

EVERYONE: Do author photos sway you one way or the other when you’re deciding to buy books?

DEBBIE ELLISON: No worries. It happens all the time. :-) Thanks so much for checking me out at the RT site. Yeah, I was happy with my stars. :-D

JEANNETTE: Love that comment about it giving your imagination a little kick. :-)

JOANNA: I was happy that day. So glad it came through. :-)

  44. Sarah says:

I voted for the smiling on :) I liked the dancing one too it was hard to decide :)

  45. limecello says:

No need to enter me into the drawing – my nano, while beat up, still works :P
But I voted for the dancing in the red dress because it just looks like you’re having a great time – and it’s a very unique and fun photo. Love it! (Though it was tough choosing.)

  46. danette says:

I picked the dancing one. You look care free :)

    Hugs, Danette

  47. RachelleChase says:

Limecello thanks so much for voting, anyway! :-) And, thanks for casting your vote, too, Danette. The results are closer than I thought they’d be …

  48. LaTessa says:

I like the blue one best

  49. Willie Burgon says:

The vitality of your spirit sways out with the swish of that red skirt and your face says, “Dance through life with me. We’ll have a ball.” Let the world move to your warm rhythm. Choose dancing in a Red Dress

  50. RachelleChase says:

LaTessa, thanks for the vote. And Willie, I love the way you put that. Thanks!

  51. Monique Wood says:

Red is vivacious, sexy and romantic. Apparently men are most attracted to women who wear red (there must be a study somewhere to prove it?!). I chose the first red dress photo as it’s fun and flirty, and you look really happy and confident in it.

  52. Kimmy Lane says:

I chose the top one. Red looks good on you!

  53. Candie L says:

The red has a good contrast. I like the one where you are moving

  54. Kammie says:

I like the dancing in the red dress photo. You look like you’re having fun and really happy. I think those vibes will pass on to the people who stop by your site and will make them smile.

  55. Rachelle says:

Monique, I’m so with you regarding red. Maybe men aren’t the only ones affected by it, as I find that I feel sexier when I’m wearing red. Or maybe a lot of women do, which attracts men. :-) Thanks to you, Kimmy and Candie for stopping by to comment and vote.

Kammie, thank you. I truly like the idea of making people smile when they stop by my site. :-) And, speaking of smiling, I’m incorporating smiling in my Dating New Year’s Resolution, which is posted at About.com.

  56. Rachelle says:

Thanks, again, to all of you who have stopped by to vote and comment. I’ll be selecting the iPod winner on January 5, 2009.

In the meantime, Happy New Year, to everyone!

  57. Nathalie says:

I prefer the current one. The deep blue is very nice and the whole picture gives a cozy, private feeling.

  58. Faith Bicknell-Brown says:

Hi Rachelle! Been a while since we’ve emailed! I saw this come through JERK and had to check it out.

I like #1 because it shows your inner light, your passion for life. And it’s more flirty, imho, than the other red dress pic. To me, it conveys not only romance, but the fun that romance can be.

  59. Patti Shenberger says:

I like the one of you in blue #3. The red dress photos are gorgeous, but the sultriness of the blue is my favorite.

  60. Jessica Russell says:

I adore the dancing in the red dress one. You look so relaxed and confident. It’s a gorgeous image and light enough to make you seem approachable.

  61. Tammy Garcia says:

I choose the current one. I just like it better.

  62. RachelleChase says:

Nice to “see” you, Faith. …the fun that romance can be. I like that! And, the …sultriness of blue is another great phrase, Patti. :-)

Jessica, I had to smile when you said “approachable,” as being more approachable is one my resolutions for 2009. In fact, Bonnie Albo used it in her dating column at About.com on Top New Year’s Resolutions for Singles.

Tammy, thanks for stopping by to vote/comment!

  63. Kat Bryan says:

They are all nice, but I like the top one best.

  64. Kat Bryan says:

They are all nice, but I like the first one.

  65. Kat Bryan says:

Very nice, the first one rocks

  66. Kat Bryan says:

    They are all nice

  67. Kat Bryan says:

    they are all very nice

  68. Kat Bryan says:

    They are all very nice.

  69. Derek says:

Life, love, romance, and writing all require the same component: Passion
This picture coveys passion, in a way the others don’t. You reveal a sparkle of spontanaiety that says, “I’m enjoying this!”

  70. RachelleChase says:

Kat, thanks for your enthusiastic response! Unfortunately, I can only enter your name in the drawing one time. :-(

Derek, I agree with you. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that everything we do in life requires passion to make it feel alive.

  71. Bretta Thompson says:

I LOVE the first picture of you in the red dress dancing! You look like you are having a “sexy fun time”! I love ALL the pictures actually, but the first one jumps out at me for some reason. It expresses how I SEE you in my own mind.
You look uninhibited, free, sexy! I think that picture IS Rachelle Chase.

  72. Lori says:

The dancing photo looks like you’re having a good time – makes me want to join you!

  73. Julie Cummings says:

I love the way you look like you are having a blast in the dancing photo!

  74. Nancy says:

Such a pretty girl — hard to choose but I like the fun, flirty dancing in the red dress best.

  75. Stacia Helpman says:

I think you look absolutely stunning in the first picture with the red dress. So happy and so beautiful.

  76. Margie Whitten says:

I prefer the current one. It screams “romance” and I wouldn’t change a thing.

  77. Annette says:

I like Dancing in a Red Dress. You just seem so happy in it.

  78. Laura says:

I really like the current photo, but Dancing got my vote – very sassy!

  79. Carolyn B says:

You couldn’t go wrong with any of the photos. Underlying each I see vibrant health, ease with who you are and intelligence. But if I’m forced to choose—I vote on dancing in a red dress. Everything about you is dancing—from the sparkling eyes to the contagious smile to the loving-life body motion. Think of it as personality caught in spontaneous movement. But what I love best about this picture—the arms. Ohmygosh, they’re fantastic. Muscle, tone, strength—now that’s just plain sexy.

  80. Susan Henderson says:

My vote goes to the flirty, dancing Rachelle. However, you are gorgeous in all three.

  81. Fran says:

I agree that the “dancing” photo is more flirtatious. Also a bit more mysterious since you aren’t facing directly into the camera.

  82. D'Ann says:

I like the blue–very striking. The pose is also provocative, more so than the red poses in my opinion.

  83. gypsy says:

well i like the dancing one but also the blue, i voted for the dancing one.. but cant you put them all on differnt pages?
    cause they all r great!

  84. Peggy says:

I chose the black background pic because the background brings out the face on the pic more and I like it best

  85. J.M. Soifer says:

I’d stick with the photo in the blue dress. You’re looking right at the camera, thus right at the reader. It makes it more personal. Plus you look so sexy in the blue.

  86. Unni says:

I like the blue because you are looking straight at me. To me it is great with some kind of personal contact with the writer. Well, at least if I’m offered a photo of the writer… Anyone can dance around i a red dress looking here and there, but just standing there and smiling your Mona Lisa smile you are pulling me into your sphere and I really want to read your books. From that picture I think you are mystic, sexy and non aggressive. It really looks like you have a secret or two to share…

  87. Unni says:

Oh, by the way; holding the blue silky fabric makes me think you have just jumped out of bed, covering yourself with the sheet, ready to tell a fascinating story…

  88. Lynn says:

    Rachelle!
Although of course you look be-you-tiful in all of the pics, because you are, I have to say I prefer the original. It manages to be totally sexy and yet come off as somehow…demure(?)…almost like a subtle tease. Also I think the sapphire is far more striking on you than the red. Sorry, that probably isn’t what you want to hear as far as making a choice, but that’s what you get for providing the option:-)

  89. Jenny says:

All three are gorgeous…how could they miss with such a model! I like the current one, as I voted, but it was a hard choice between that and Dancing in a Red Dress.

  90. Cassidy McKay says:

I like the current one, but the dancing in a red dress is a close second.

  91. RachelleChase says:

Sorry, all. Got a little behind. I’ll be back later tonight to reply to the new comments and announce the winner. Have a great day!

  92. Marcia Anderson says:

I like the dancing photo since it’s happy and light-hearted.
    – Marcia Anderson ;-)

  93. Lisa Wallen says:

Rachelle, Dancing in a Red Dress looks like you just said something flirty, beckoning a spontaneous chase…

  94. RachelleChase says:

Bretta, oh, you made my day! I thrilled that that’s how you see me in your mind!! Because, that’s how I see myself in my mind, too — my FANTASY mind. (LOL)

Lori, I was hoping that image would invite those looking to join in. Glad it worked for you.

Julie, Nancy, Stacia, J.M, Jenny and Lynn — thank you so much for the compliments. You know how to make a gal’s head swell. :-D

Carolyn, what a way with words you have! Love the movement they conveyed. And thanks so much about the arms. :-D Believe it or not, I do not work out. That is pure luck/genetics — I inherited them from my father!!

Gypsy, that’s a great suggestion! I got a comment from someone, offline, suggesting the same thing. I will have to give it some thought …

Unni, oh, I just love that Mona Lisa smile line. :-) And, I’m glad that’s the impression you got from the blue sheet photo. Because, that’s the impression I was hoping to leave (ditto your impression, too, Lynn). But, BTW, I am fully dressed under that sheet. I just slipped the straps of my tank top off my shoulders for that shot. There. Now I’ve spoiled the mystique. (LOL)

Margie, Laura, D’Ann, and Cassidy, you’re not alone in that choice. In fact, I’m surprised to hear to many of you say you like the current one best. So, thank you for giving me more food for thought. :-)

Peggy, the background will still be black, even if I go with the new photo.

Annette, actually I was happy. And, Fran, I was going for flirtatious, too. And, light-hearted, too, Marcia. So, I’m happy that all of those feelings came through. :-)

Lisa, I hadn’t even thought of that, beckoning a spontaneous chase. That SO fits in with my “Life is about the chase” tagline. You clever woman, you. Thanks. :-)

  95. RachelleChase says:

Wow – I’m a bit amazed by the number of you who took the time to stop by and leave a comment. I know you all have lots of things competing for your time, so I truly, truly appreciate it!!

I’m really surprised by how close the votes are between Dancing and the current photo. But, I must admit, Dancing is my favorite and I’m glad it won. :-)

While I do like the current photo, for many of the reasons you’ve all stated, unfortunately, I need to change it. Not only because it’s been over a year, but also because, well, the illusion of being naked makes me a bit … uncomfortable with sharing my web site with those I enocunter in my day job world (and here you thought it was my sexy books that made me uncomfortable). :-D

I look forward to showing you the new site in upcoming weeks.

So, thank you all, once again!

  96. RachelleChase says:

    AND THE WINNER IS…

Via a random drawing, Jolene is the winner of the iPod Shuffle.

  99. fairyhedgehog says:

I like all of them a lot, but in order I prefer the current one because of the direct look. It’s like you’re inviting me into the blog.

Then I like the dancing one, because it seems happy and full of energy.

The smiling one is pretty good too – any of them will be good.

  100. RachelleChase says:

Gypsy, Jolene hasn’t reported in to collect her prize yet so, I might have to select another winner in the next week. So, stay tuned. :-) And thanks for the compliment. I didn’t think you were being weird. What woman doesn’t want to hear that?! :-D

Fairyhedgehog, thanks for stopping by. I see you’re having the same problem deciding that I was. :-) I’m glad that you liked them all!

  101. Sindee says:

I might be too late for the contest, but I like the first. It looks fun and flirty.

    Sindee

  102. Sherri says:

Whoa! So many comments my eyes gave out before reading them all, so apologies if I repeat any comments. The “dancing Rachelle” photo is my favorite. It shows great movement, fire, fun, sass, and best portrays the kind of hot topics you write about. The “blue” photo is very good, but it always made me feel like — going creepy here — you had just stepped out of the shower and I was peeping…and I’m NOT that kind of gal! The other “red” photo is good, too, but as many others said, it seemed more staged and frozen. The dancing one looks like a woman I could laugh with about love and life over a couple of frosty margaritas. Ole!

  103. Fedora says:

    Hi, Rachelle,
I noticed that you’ve already counted votes, but I did like all the photos–my favorite was your current photo, mainly because you’re looking at and connecting with the viewer; I love the red dress though–that’s a fabulous color for you! Very vibrant and warm and exciting!

  104. Jolene says:

Oh im so sorry i didnt email sooner, my dad suffered a massive stroke and hubby left for Kuwait over christmas.. is been a very rough month and i totally lost track of blogs.. i hope im not too late.. i sent my email..
thank you so much.. if im too late.. congrats to a new winner..

  105. RachelleChase says:

Sindee, that’s my favorite, too. :-)

Sherri, thanks for the chuckle. :-D Didn’t mean for the current photo to make you feel like you were stepping into a, uh, private moment. (LOL) Love that “…laugh with about love and life over a couple of frosty margaritas. Ole!” line, though!

Fedora, yes, I like that about the current photo, too. But … here’s a secret: I’ve always felt mildly uncomfortable with the expression on my face, as I know exactly what I was thinking about when that photo was taken. ;-)

Thanks, again, to everyone for stopping by!

  106. RachelleChase says:

Jolene – you’re not too late (I was just going to try to reach you again this weekend, so perfect timing). And, OMG, I can see how rough the last month has been!! Sending prayers and healthy good wishes to you, your dad, and your husband…

  107. Jolene says:

oh i so hope this hasnt gotten lost in the mail. i havent received it yet.. hopefully soon..

  108. Lisa says:

Of the two, I like the Dancing photo because it shows a little thigh and if it’s going to go to the left of the webpage, the arm is better positioned for overlap than the dress in the other picture. But truthfully, you’d have to do much better than either one to beat the blue one you have now; it’s killer!

  109. RachelleChase says:

Lisa – wow. So you like the blue one that much, huh? Thank you!

Jolene, I just sent you an email.

Everyone, I hope to have the updated site up in March, so stay tuned… :-)

  110. Tawanna Howard Caldwell says:

I voted for Dancing in a Red Dress. That is an absolutely gorgeous picture, I LOVE the dress, and you are full of life and elegance in that picture. The color red, the flirty dress and that addictive smile you’ve got on definitely puts one in the mood for a good, sultry book!

  111. Rachelle Chase says:

Tawanna, oh, I love that line, …in the mood for a good, sultry book. Glad you like that photo. Hopefully, it’ll look good on the site.

Thanks for stopping by! — btw, I like your site. Another “geek.” Nice to meet you. :-)

  112. Kathy says:

You look like you’re having a lot of fun in the pictures with the red dress, however there is a heavy shadow in both of them that diminishes there professional quality. The picture with the blue dress is by far the best.

  113. Gail says:

I like the dancing in red because it’s so energetic and fun. I think it looks optimistic.

  114. Rachelle says:

Kathy, the background in the “dancing” photo has been changed to black, just like the current one, so I hope you’ll like it.

Gail, energetic and optimistic are great words to describe the photo. I love it!

And, to everyone who stopped by, the new site should be up next month. Thanks, again, for sharing your opinion.
