A photo of Mary Leo, translator Carla Calimani, and myself appeared in Italy’s equivalent of the Wall Street Journal.
The delightful Elizabeth Jennings, author and co-founder of the awesome Women’s Fiction Festival (which I just returned from) in Matera, Italy, just sent it to me. Isn’t that cool?
Stay tuned for more Italy updates, as well as videos. I hope to get them posted this weekend.

COOL!! That must’ve been a blast! =)

Yeah, the conference was wonderful, Veronica - I highly recommend it. This was my second time going and it was even better than the first.
It was great to get an international perspective on the book industry, network with European agents/editors as well as American ones, and meet writers from Italy and other parts of Europe. Oh … and let’s not forget eating fantastic food, exploring a beatiful slice of Italy, and meeting Italian residents. Have I sold you on it yet?

Big congrats on the newsletter article!

Congratulations Wall Street that is awesome

Congrats again! But I want to know, Rachelle did you meet any sexy Italian men! Should we expect your next book to feature an Italian hunk?
October 20th, 2009 at 7:50 pm
Congrats that’s so cool!!!

Danny, Beth, Sue, and Stephanie, thank you for the congrats. It was kind of cool to see that photo. I’m told I made it onto Italian television, too, but I haven’t been able to track down the footage yet.
Sue, I’m truly ashamed to admit that I did not get to meet any sexy Italian men. I was so busy with conference activities, day and night, that there wasn’t any time. But I did see a few from afar. And, yes, I’ve been thinking about featuring an Italian hunk in a future book. I’m thinking I might have to make another trip to do “research.”

I think that’s a big deal, making it into a major national publication in Italy. Way to go! Too bad the conference didn’t attract any Italian studs to drool over, though.

Thank you, Auriette. I’m easy - a mention in any publication is a big deal to me.
You know, you raise and excellent point about the Italian studs. I think Liz should invite some hunky Italian guys to the conference — maybe they can do a panel on inside the minds of Italian men. Oh, I LOVE that idea!! Thanks for sparking it …. I’m off to email Liz.
And, for that, I’m going to give you a book, Auriette. Email me off line with your mailing address.

You are in the BIGTIME!! Congratulations!! You greatly deserve it!! So does what happens in Italy stay in Italy??
October 26th, 2009 at 4:28 pm
That is so neat that you made it into the Italian Wall Street Journal! Congrats! I think I would frame the article and hang it on the wall for everyone to see!

Tracy, oh, you say the nicest things.
Thank you. I wish I had some juicy stories but … perhaps I should make some up, just to feel better. (LOL)
Annalisa, I would LOVE to do that, except I don’t have an actual copy of the paper. Perhaps I’ll try to track one down. Thanks for the suggestion.

congrats for being in the journal sounds awesome !

Beverly, thank you. But I have to clarify: It’s not our WSJ, but Italy’s version of the WSJ. But still, I’m excited!
October 28th, 2009 at 10:26 pm
I am so excited to be one of your winners. If you get those hunky Italian guys together for a panel, be sure to let me know. Then help me come up with a story to tell my husband about why I really need to be there.

Beth Re, you won a copy of MEN ON FIRE. Please email me your mailing address and I will get that out to you. Congrats! And thanks to everyone who entered…

Ciao Rachelle,
It’s me - the interpreter! Just to say I read Sin Club and absolutely loved it - you’re a genius! How can I get hold of Man on Fire…? Really hope to see you again soon (maybe Matera again this year?)
